Message from the Executive Director

Welcome!

“Welcome” and “Thank You” for taking the time to learn more about the Children’s House of Nashville and the benefits of Montessori education. It is crucial for your child and family to have a positive initial school experience in order to establish a foundation for a lifetime of learning. Since opening in 1973, the Children’s House continues to be a diverse community of children and adults learning and growing together. We live our mission…to guide a diverse group of children to become joyful and confident lifelong learners who respect others and the world around them.”

Montessori is a unique educational method that fosters a child’s intrinsic desire to learn. At Children’s House, your child will learn to participate in a community of self-directed learners and creative thinkers and use his/her own mind to solve problems. Our educational approach focuses on the whole child –cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. Children’s House is a place where children are given the language and structure to nurture their independence, confidence, and creativity.

Our indoor and outdoor environments are beautifully prepared by Montessori credentialed educators with developmentally appropriate materials sequentially designed to follow the child. Your child will receive individualized lessons to work with these materials at his/her own pace under the gentle guidance of respectful teachers with a passion for educating. Through this modeling, children develop a true joy of learning about themselves, others and the world in which we live.

The Children’s House of Nashville’s learning environment is supported by a caring and effective administration, faculty, Board of Directors and a group of family volunteers who organize extracurricular events and enhance our school each year with fundraising efforts. We believe in supportive partnerships to ensure each child’s success.

I invite you to explore our website and learn more as to why Children’s House is the place to foster your child’s love of learning.

Respectfully Yours,

Rhonda L. McKay
