Our Mission
The Children’s House is a Montessori preschool and kindergarten that guides a diverse group of children to become joyful and confident lifelong learners who respect others and the world around them.

Our Vision
Children’s House students are extraordinary citizens: independent, responsible, unique and confident in their abilities to influence their world.
About Us
The Children’s House was founded in 1973 by a group of Nashville parents seeking a quality early educational experience for their own young children. We serve 72 children in three multi-age classrooms guided by Montessori certified educators. Located in the Green Hills/Belmont area of Nashville, Children’s House offers Montessori early childhood and Kindergarten opportunities to children ages 3-6. Our campus includes an art studio, dedicated space for before school and after school childcare, adult meeting rooms, volunteer work areas, beautiful gardens and outdoor play and learning spaces.
Our School.
Our Family.
Our Community.
Montessori is a unique educational method that fosters a child’s intrinsic desire to learn. At Children’s House, your child will learn to participate in a community of self-directed learners and creative thinkers, and use his/her own mind to solve problems. Our educational approach focuses on the whole child – cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. At Children’s House, we give children the language and structure to nurture their independence, confidence, and creativity.
We invite you to explore our website and learn why Children’s House is the place to foster your child’s love of learning. If our school seems like a good fit for your child and family, please contact us to set up a virtual visit.

Learning Curriculum
Our beautifully prepared classroom environments include Montessori materials and Montessori certified educators. Our co-teaching approach provides more engagement in the work and a collaborative approach to guiding your child’s developmental needs. Multi-age classrooms enable younger children to learn from older children and experience new challenges through observation. Older children reinforce their own learning by teaching concepts they have already mastered while developing leadership skills and serving as role models. During this “morning work cycle,” children have the freedom to work through various tasks and responsibilities at their own pace, without interruption, in order to develop their coordination, concentration, and independence naturally. In addition to our beautiful Montessori classrooms, the three morning programming components below are an extension of the morning work cycle.

Outdoor Classroom
One unique component of our school is our Outdoor Classroom. We like to think of this space as an extension of the work that occurs inside the school. This classroom is led by a certified Montessori educator who is also an intern with Master Gardeners of Davidson County. Children learn to plant, harvest, and prepare herbs and vegetables for snack. In addition, there are opportunities to take care of wild birds, to explore nature and create work in our woodworking area.

Art Studio
At Children’s House we have a dedicated art studio where children have the freedom to explore and create with a variety of art materials. Throughout the year, art instructors implement a planned curriculum which highlights various artists and their work. Children are invited to visit the art studio to create their own masterpieces which are displayed in galleries throughout the school.

Music & Movement
Children’s House offers regular opportunities for extended exploration of sound and motion through our Music and Movement program. Guided by a certified Montessori instructor, children are invited to participate in sound experiments, singing and listening activities, playing of instruments, movement games, and the enjoyment of music and movement from around the world while being introduced to the basic building blocks of music and dance.
