Admissions Policy: The purpose of the admissions process is to optimize the match between our program and your child and family. The Children's House shall not discriminate against anyone on the basis of race, disability, religious denomination, color, sex, sexual orientation, or national origin.
In our multi-age classrooms we are committed to creating a miniature of the Nashville community at large, with a diverse mix of students. The population of each classroom is balanced by age and gender and application date is a considering factor. Our admissions policies reflect our belief that children, who experience diversity when they are young, grow to accept and cherish variety in others.
The criteria for acceptance are:
- Date of birth (three by September 30 in most cases)
- The child’s readiness for the program including independent toileting skills ( Read this article for some toilet training ideas)
- Parent's classroom observation
- Parent’s understanding and committment to the Montessori philosophy and our program
- Parent's committment to supporting all fundraising efforts including the House Fund, Spring Auction and Winter Bazaar.
Applications are
accepted throughout the year. Admission decisions are made in early March
for enrollment in the fall. We enroll children who are three or four
years of age.
Five year old children, who have previously attended a Montessori school,
will be considered as space permits. Priority is given to siblings
and legacies whose applications are on file by January 1 of the enrollment
year.
