Dear Children’s House Community,
Last February, Anne Colley announced her intention to retire in May 2017 after serving twenty-six years as Executive Director of Children’s House. Since the spring, a search committee comprised of members of the board, faculty and members of the Children’s House community has worked diligently to find the best person to continue to lead this school, allowing our children to thrive as joyful and confident, life-long learners. The search committee has completed its work and I am pleased to inform you that Rhonda McKay has been selected and has accepted our offer to become the next executive director of Children’s House, effective June 2017. Rhonda joins us from Montessori Academy in Brentwood where she currently serves as a primary 3-6 classroom teacher and also as the Educational Director of the Montessori Training Center of Brentwood, working with adult learners. Rhonda has spent 25 years in the education field and she previously served in a leadership role in Belmont University’s Montessori Teacher Education Program.
While Rhonda will not officially assume her new role until June, she will frequently be at the school during the next few months, including Saturday, December 3rd for the Winter Bazaar. Rhonda is eager to meet as many parents as possible and you will enjoy spending time with her. Anne and many of our teachers have known Rhonda professionally for several years and I expect that her transition into the Children’s House community will be a smooth one.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Anne for her excellent leadership during the search process. Children’s House is fortunate to have a leader like her who is committed to ensuring that our school will continue to be successful long after she retires. I would also like to thank Jen Boulton, our search committee chair and committee members Pam Scretchen, Courtney Little, Donna Hicks, Dick Nord and Phil Newman for managing the long process that resulted in Rhonda joining the Children’s House family.
This is an exciting step in our school’s history. Please join me in welcoming Rhonda McKay to our community.
Will Alexander, Chairman of the Board
